Every Story Matters

Every Story Matters is your opportunity to help the UK Covid-19 Inquiry understand your experience of the pandemic.

Share my story

The pandemic affected every single person in the UK and, in many cases, continues to have a lasting impact on lives. Every one of our experiences is unique and this is your opportunity to share with the Inquiry the impact it had on you, your life, and the other people around you.

You can share as much or as little information as you feel able. We understand that reliving some of your experiences may be difficult. You can start it now, and come back to finish it when you feel ready.

You must be aged 18 or over to use this form. The Inquiry is aware of the importance of understanding the experience of young people during the pandemic. We are delivering a bespoke and targeted research project hearing directly from children and young people, including those most affected by the pandemic, to help inform the Inquiry’s findings and recommendations.

Why should I share my experience?

While we can’t change the past, by sharing your experience with the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, you can help us to understand and assess what happened to you during the pandemic. This will assist the development of recommendations made by the Inquiry, that could help future generations to come.

Watch Michael’s experience. He was hospitalised for 3 months when he caught COVID-19. He shares his pandemic story and explains why it’s so important for everyone to share their own.

Do you really want to hear from me?

Yes – because your perspective is unique. You do not need to have caught the virus to have an important story to tell. We want to understand every aspect of the pandemic so you can share as much or as little as you want to about your life, your work, your community, your family, your wellbeing.

Every story shared will be valuable in shaping the Inquiry’s recommendations and help us to learn lessons for the future.

What happens after I’ve shared my experience?

Every story shared with us will help the UK Covid-19 Inquiry understand the impact of the pandemic and identify lessons to be learned. Your experiences and learnings are fed into the Inquiry’s investigations as evidence and brought together to create recommendations and a record of the pandemic to protect future generations.

Whatever information you choose to share will be protected in line with legal requirements, which means any details that could identify you will be removed before analysis and publication.
